The life of a Christian Procrastinator.

This is a great guide to learn how your Christian Procrastinator friends behave. Please, if you have any other suggestions, send me an email (lamongstt@gmail.com). Please, don’t hesitate to follow me on Twitter and Instagram on the handle- Life_of__deola.

So, we all know that there are a special species of people that leave things done till the last minute. Many times, it is unintentional; you know 🤷🏾‍♀️🤷🏾‍♂️- we just find it difficult to get so much done in such little time, but Bam!!! 💥 a, strategy comes miraculously within a much shorter time.

But Christian Procrastinators are on a whole new level and I will be sharing this through a story that happened recently. Yours Truly was a member of the national association of private procrastinators.

I wanted to put a logo but I’ve left. 😔

We were sent home due to Covid-19 in March and online school began immediately- let’s pin it to a month after. So, there was no structure in place to contain the procrastinating monster in me.

In the month of May, we were informed that we would be writing exams for some courses that are seen as not too important. They were quite small… SSSomething I could read within a short period of time. And I did read. (is it just me or do I like the way the S looks).

Afterwards, I had the whole of June to myself. I just wanted to relazzz and be taken kia of… (a term for I just want to relax and be cared for) .

The the Holy Spirit began to speak to me. He said, I must work the work of him that sent me while it is day; the night cometh when no man can work.

Every time, these words hounded me. I couldn’t sleep my regular afternoon sleep because of the immense guilt that was plaguing me. A little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands to rest, so shall thy poverty come upon you like a prowler and thy want like an armed man.

Truth be told, I knew he wanted me to read but like all procrastinators, the instant gratification monkey in my head wanted easy and fun. The rational decision maker in me couldn’t really do stuff.

Do not be deceived. The monkey is not gentle. 😒

Then the fateful day where we were told that exams were coming. We were to write them in not less than two weeks. I was all over the place. It triggered anxiety and all the beautiful things that come with it. Procrastination got me to that dreadful land and I was clueless on what to do. So, I turned to God.

And as you all know, God comes through for all his children and look at what happened.

What happened above isn’t a warrant for continued procrastination. Or, well, encouraging your Christian Procrastinator friends to keep doing that😂 just to keep having time extensions to read. It is a clarion call to work hard at what we do. This is our daytime and a time is coming where we will wish we performed better in a test, or submitted before a deadline or in my case, taken heed to the prompt of the Holy Spirit.

However, I have decided that this whole relationship🔗 with procrastination can no longer work. I need a relationship healthy deadlines so, I hereby break up with Procrastination. 😌

I must work the work of him that sent me while it is day, the night is coming when no man can work.

Many thanks to Tim Urban of the Wait but Why blog. His Ted talk about The Mind of a Master Procrastinator is really mind blowing. Check out Wait but Why too.
